Wavelength Orchestra Aug23 < Back 19 August 2023 Following the successful Wavelength Orchestra performance in June, an even large ensemble returned to Bawley Bay (next to the Fourth Portal) for another afternoon of sound-making. Previous Next About the event The Fourth Portal, along with sound artist-in-residence Richard Sanderson, extended a warm welcome to everyone to join the Wavelength Orchestra. The first performance in June saw more than 30 people create a gentle, ambient and joyous afternoon of sound. The performance was free to attend Additional Performers were sought up to the beginning of the performance. The Wavelength Orchestra welcomes additional performers from communities near and far. All was needed was a portable instrument, which doesn't need mains electricity, and to attend a workshop in the Fourth Portal at 2.30 before the performance. All skill levels were welcome. Like a normal cafe you can buy coffee, tea, snacks etc however, we also provide a comfortable place to play board games with family, friends or our other customers. We have a board game library that you can use or you can bring your own. Tables are available at all times however we have a schedule of weekly events organised. Clubs run from 5 pm for kids and 7 pm for adults. Daily Play Pass - The cafe is free to use but there is a small per person charge if you want to play. Running throughout November as part of the Innovation Showcase. The prompts were released on Friday, 01 November 2024 The first two events will be at the Fourth Portal, Royal Pier Road, Gravesend, DA12 2BD Friday, 1st November from 6:30 until we are bored or cold Sunday 3rd November from 3pm until we are bored or cold :) We will then decide other potential locations... " More on the event lead The event will be led, at the beginning at least, by local Gravesend programmer Oli Donald. He intends to respond to the prompts but this year in a public space and invites anyone else, even vaguely interested to join him. Event Information These events are free and come and go as you please. We intend to host this every other day in different locations around Gravesend. You may need a computer of some type if you wish to participate, but where possible Fourth Portal will have some Macs available. No understanding of coding is required. You are welcome to join in, ask questions or just watch. There is no formal training taking place, this is just a fun and enjoyable event - although you will probably learn loads!
