Introduction
The Smart Sensing Lab will demonstrate various low-cost, low-energy devices and sensors that aim to democratise AI and make it available for green spaces, agriculture, crime prevention, supporting vulnerable people, environmental and pollution monitoring, and transforming mental health and wellbeing.

Eiman Kanjo is the Provost’s Visiting Professor in Pervasive Sensing and tinyML at the Department of Computing, Imperial College London; honoured as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering by the Women in Engineering Society.
As one of the academic leads of the Turing University Network, Eiman works closely with the Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence, and was one of the 24 recipients of the Turing Network Development Awards 2022.
With over 130 publications, she has secured multiple grants from funders such as DCMS, InnovateUK, EPSRC, DSTL, ERDF, MoD, and the Lottery Fund. She is committed to collaborating with charities, local authorities, and industry. In addition, she is involved with the tinyML Foundation, serving on the steering committee for tinyML EMEA and Co-Leading TinyML UK. She is also an editor at the Data Centric Engineering Journal.
As an Associate Director on the leadership team of Health Data Research UK (HDRUK), her work focuses on improving the quality of health-related data and advancing new technologies to support clinical staff in delivering excellent care. She has been appointed to the Royal Society’s Newton International Fellowships Committee.
Previously, she worked as a Research Associate in Mobile Sensing at the Computer Laboratory, University of Cambridge, and was a member of the Cambridge eScience Centre (CeSC).
She has conducted research at the Mixed Reality Lab, University of Nottingham, in Pervasive Computing, Smartphone Sensing, and Location-based Applications, and also contributed to the "Interactive Toys and Board Games Project" at the International Centre for Computer Games and Virtual Entertainment (ICCAVE), University of Abertay Dundee, sponsored by Scottish Enterprise under the Proof of Concept Programme.
Her research collaborations include a stint as a research visitor at Evolaris in Graz, Austria, in 2011.
Currently, she also serves as a Professor of Pervasive Computing at Nottingham Trent University, leading the Smart Sensing Lab.
